The Princess of Tabla
Born in 1986, Rimpa Siva is among India’s most celebrated tabla players. She was the subject of the 1999 French documentary Rimpa Siva: Princess of Tabla, the film that gave her the honorific nickname by which she is still known by.
Rimpa was hailed as a child prodigy upon bursting onto the classical Indian music scene when she was barely a teenager. She gave her first stage performance in Kolkata at the age of eight and was touring the United States while still a schoolgirl, with later concerts across Europe. She holds a Master’s degree from Rabindra Bharati University, and has been honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Indian Music Academy’s President Award.
A globally celebrated tabla virtuoso, she is distinguished by her remarkable technique, deep rhythmic expertise, and inventive approach to classical Indian percussion.
Musikala is proud to present her masterclass workshop followed by a solo concert*. It takes place August 15, 2026 in Chantilly, Virginia.
*Accompanying Rimpa on harmonium during the concert portion is young master Arjun Ramakrishnan.
